Math Resources for Teachers

These are unprecedented times when everything is changing rapidly. I wanted to create a guide where we can all share different resources to support Math Teachers. These may be online resources for you as a teacher, or possibly resources for your students if they have access to online learning/enrichment. While these supplemental resources are intended to provide guidance and support, users should first follow the guidance of their local school or district. All instructional decisions are locally determined, and the options and examples included in this resource are not required, nor does School Improvement endorse or recommend any specific program or product included herein. The resources and tools are provided as an option for users to explore in order to supplement or enhance learning activities prescribed at the local level. If you have any questions, PLEASE reach out as I will be checking my email (pgreene@gvboces.org) on a regular basis. I am thinking of you all and your students during this time.

General Resources

PBS Learning Videos for Math

PBS LearningMedia producers and educators have come together to curate a special collection of resources organized by grade and subject area. Find videos, lesson plans, and activities that support learning at home. Create a free account to save and organize content. Featured lesson plans in this collection contain full contextualization for the media they include.

Khan Academy Math

Khan Academy is a free resource for students, teachers, and parents that offers exercises, quizzes, and tests so students can practice and master skills, as well as instructional videos to help students learn or review material.

Prodigy Math Game

This online game was one of my most favorite tools for teaching and learning. As a teacher, you can easily differentiate questions and practice problems. Prodigy provides immediate feedback and data with standards-based skills for you to track progress and usage. It’s also extremely motivating for students!

Elementary Resources

BT BOCES PK-6 Math Calendar

These calendars along with the new additional resources that have just been added will help to support any classroom. The number of live links and shared Google folders providing available resources is beyond helpful.

K-6 Module Homework from BT BOCES

This resource is amazing if you teach using the Modules. I have been using this at home with my own kids the past couple of weeks! Step 1: Print or load the HW page from this folder for the lesson you intend to teach with or practice. Step 2: Students can be guided through practice or choose to work independently. Step 3: If the students have trouble with any particular concept (***or parents who may be helping at home***) scan the QR code at the top of EVERY page using a device. This takes us directly to a video explaining how to complete the page. AWESOME!

Zearn Math

A curriculum resource that comes highly recommended and is also a top-rated curriculum across all three review gateways: Focus & Coherence, Rigor & Mathematical Practices, and Usability. Follow the link for a Quick Start and instructions on how to get started for free using Zearn Math.

Greg Tang Math

Free online games and resources are available. Greg’s approach to teaching math concepts is simple. Teach students to be flexible with numbers. The games can help younger students develop their number sense.
